The Industrial Maintenance Academy is a unique training program designed to provide students with basic entry level opportunities in the industrial maintenance field. It was developed using industry-based skill standards and feedback Cleveland County business and industry manufacturing partners, and focuses on these five key areas: 1) Maintenance Procedures, including inspection, lubrication, and alignment; 2) Introduction to Electricity, with a focus on AC and DC principles, electrical components, power, and test equipment; 3) Motors and Controls, involving ladder diagrams, pilot devices, starters, and other control devices; 4) Hydraulics and Pneumatics, including standard symbols, pumps, valves, actuators, FRL, and control assemblies; and 5) Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) with attention to ladder logic, IO modules, power supplies, controllers and equipment interfacing.

The Barber Academy prepares students with the skills and required hours to sit for the North Carolina Board of Barber Examiners Apprentice Barber examination. Upon passing the NCBBE exam the successful student will receive an Apprentice Barber license and will be qualified to work in an entry-level position in a barber shop or related business. After at least one year of on-the-job-training and completion of the NCBBE Registered Barber exam, the successful student will become a Registered Barber The Barber Academy is a full-time day program that will take 15 months to complete.
