Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

CRC Header

Career Readiness Certificate was developed by ACT, Inc. to help employees gain skills and to help employers make better decisions during the hiring process and test candidates in three areas: Locating Information, Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information. In North Carolina, there are three career readiness certification levels: bronze, silver and gold. Today, the average worker changes jobs 4 (four) to 6 (six) times over the course their career. Employees must continually build their skills in order to be successful in today’s market. Preparing for and achieving the Career Readiness Certificate is an effective way to build skills and gain a nationally recognized credential which establishes proof of your skills.

Three (3) Simple Steps:

Step 1: PRE-ASSESSMENT TEST - Come to the Cleveland NC Works Office (Suite 6013) located on the first floor of the LeGrand Center on the Cleveland Community College campus. It is recommended everyone take the pre-assessment in order to determine current skill levels before taking the final exam. On average, it takes around 1 1/2 hours to complete pre-assessment. Our trained experts/advisors will give you your score immediately upon completion and together, you and your advisor, will plan your next steps. (View Pre-Assessment Test Schedule)

Step 2: CAREER READINESS CERTIFICATION LAB - The level scored on the pre-assessment will determine if you need to attend the CRC Lab located in the Cleveland NC Works Office to practice questions you are likely to see on the final exam. (View CRC Lab Schedule) Many individuals who take the pre-assessment, spend a few hours in the lab "skilling up" or practicing questions in order to increase their proficiency to ensure they are prepared for the final exam.

Step 3: CAREER READINESS CERTIFICATE FINAL EXAM - This test requires about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to complete and is given two (2) times each month. Space is limited so pre-registration is required. Your advisor at the Cleveland NC Works Office will help you get registered for the final exam. (View Final Exam Schedule)
