LeGrand Center Groundbreaking

The Cleveland Community College Foundation finds itself in the midst of a historic transition for the College and the community. On September 14, 2010, the Foundation, in partnership with Cleveland County Schools and Cleveland County Government, broke ground on LeGrand Center, an 84,000 square-foot, two-story complex located adjacent to the CCC campus. The Center will open in mid-2012 and is sure to be a focal point for the community.
The first component, the College’s Continuing Education and Workforce and Career Development Center, will provide customized training for business and industry and provide a variety of courses and programs for workforce development, job-seeking skills, and quality of life enhancement.
The second component, Cleveland Early College High School (CECHS), will have the space they need for 250 students to grow and learn while completing their high school diploma and College associate degree in five years. CECHS students will also have ample out-of-doors space for educational projects and personal wellness.
The third component provides special event conference space and executive meeting areas for economic development projects benefiting Cleveland County. Having a separate entrance from the other two building components, the special event conference space can be partitioned into multiple different configurations and each partition has its own advanced technology for sound, video, and audio communication. Executive meeting areas boast the latest in information technology and privacy for high-level corporate interactions with economic development clients.
Thoughtful landscape architecture and design will complement the Center and give lasting impressions for both occupants and visitors while a highly specialized and centralized building automation system minimizes the facility’s carbon footprint. The facility will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified through the US Green Building Council and be a Cisco® Smart + Connected Real Estate facility.
