Kiaunya Crank and Markeela Foster (pictured L-R) have been friends since high school.
For the last two years that friendship has helped them through the Medical Assisting program at CCC.
After graduating from Crest High School in 2013, Crank and Foster started working as nursing assistants. After a few years, they wanted to do more, although by that time Crank had a family and wasn’t sure how to make going back to school a reality.
With Foster’s encouragement, they made going back to school a reality, and by using the buddy system they made it through the program. After many encouraging phone calls and texts that read “We’ve got this,” passed between them, Crank and Foster graduated this past spring and started new jobs.
“It’s been a long two-year journey, but we made it,” said Foster.
“I feel like I’m equipped now,” said Crank, “Ms. Hill has given us everything we need to move forward.”
