Juvenile Court Counselor Trainee

Talking to others to convey information effectively.

Knowledge of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety's Juvenile Justice Section.
Ability to prepare effective written reports.
Public speaking - ability to present programs to educate juveniles and their families, agency personnel and the general public.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a human services field such as social work, psychology, counseling, or criminal justice from an appropriately accredited institution; or master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
If selected as a Trainee, you will have the opportunity to participate in a 12- to 24-month training progression. Beginning trainees with a required bachelor’s degree but no directly related experience will begin at the minimum salary of $34,000 and will follow a 24-month trainee progression.
Work hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; flexible work schedule at times including after hours and participation in the on-call rotation is required which includes weekends and holidays. Must have valid driver’s license. Must successfully complete Criminal Justice Certification requirements.
