Provide social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families and to maximize the family well-being and the academic functioning of children.
May assist parents, arrange adoptions, and find foster homes for abandoned or abused children.
In schools, they address such problems as teenage pregnancy, misbehavior, and truancy.
May also advise teachers.
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredit-ed school of social work and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field and three years of directly related experience; or graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and four years of directly related experience.
