Both of Laura’s parents play classical music, and she grew up going to concerts. She became interested in playing the flute at seven years old and has since learned to play several woodwind instruments, as well as the piano.

Laura earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas. What she enjoys most about teaching is the ability to share her passion with others.

She is very excited about the new Associate in Fine Arts in Music program and how it will benefit students who wish to pursue a career in music.

“Everyone comes in with different strengths and weaknesses. This program is designed to give you a good foundation of all the basics, for example, how to read music or interpret rhythm.”

The AFA in Music program is great for students who want to pursue a career in music and for those who simply want to explore their craft as a musician.

The College has two classrooms equipped with pianos and comprehensive music production software, which is a huge advantage to expanding students’ knowledge of music.
