Student Spotlight: Aaron Hoyle-Rivera

Our next student spotlight features Aaron Hoyle-Rivera, a senior at Cleveland Early College High School (CECHS). As a first-generation college student, Hoyle-Rivera wants to be an example and inspiration to others like him. He wants all students to know that attending college is possible.

Hoyle-Rivera is a natural leader who values working as part of a team. He demonstrates that characteristic in his positions as president of the Student Ambassadors and the Junior Civitan Club at CECHS, as well as his position as Team Leader at his part-time job at Chick-fil-A.

In addition to those leadership roles, Hoyle-Rivera is the first CECHS student to participate in the Student Government Association (SGA) at Cleveland Community College where he currently serves as Secretary. He decided to join SGA, “so I can be a bridge of understanding from Cleveland Early College to Cleveland Community College. I also wanted to represent dual enrolled students from the different high schools. Most of all, I wanted to ‘break the mold’ and set a new standard for our Early College Students.”

When Hoyle-Rivera graduates from high school in May, he will also graduate from CCC with an Associate in Arts and a Criminal Justice Technology Certificate. After graduation he plans to attend Western Carolina University and major in criminal justice.
