Cleveland Community College is undergoing a major initiative to ensure the accessibility of all information and communication technology resources. Facets of the initiative include communicating the importance of accessibility for student success; evaluating all electronic information to include websites, e-Learning resources, and all electronic or digital assets for accessibility; providing training and support to address all non-compliance issues; developing procedures to certify accessibility through the procurement process; and implementing a review plan to ensure continued compliance with Federal, State, and College laws and guidelines.
The overriding goal is for CCC to achieve and maintain compliance with the standards outlined in WCAG 2.0 Level AA for all information and communication resources. It is the policy and practice of Cleveland Community College to create inclusive and accessible learning environments consistent with federal and state law.
Providing accessible websites and instruction is important for three reasons:
- It’s the ethical thing to do.
- It’s the smart thing to do.
- It’s the law.
