Academy Dates
Spring 2025: January 13 – March 21
Summer 2025: June 9 – August 15
Fall 2025: August 25 – October 31
Classes meet Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Academy Goal
To produce high-quality firefighters who strengthen the fire service by providing excellent customer service.
Admission Information
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old by the first day of class
- Candidates must complete the application process at least 3 weeks prior to the class start date
- No walk-ins will be accepted
Out-of-State Firefighters
- Receive full IFSAC certification in Firefighter and Haz Mat

Cost (**NC residents may be eligible for stipends/scholarships that will help offset the costs)
- $180 tuition (non-exempt or out-of-state)
- tuition waived for students affiliated with an emergency services department
- $225 non-refundable supplies fee (covers textbooks, uniforms and other items)
- $1.30 insurance fee, due upon acceptance
Lodging
Several local fire departments will allow out-of-town candidates to stay free of charge at their stations.
