Apprenticeship Cleveland Honors Graduates, New Apprentices

Cleveland Community College celebrated student achievement and local workforce growth during the Apprenticeship Cleveland annual graduation and signing ceremony held on Tuesday, November 18.

This year, the program recognized 10 graduates who completed their apprenticeships and earned certificates, diplomas, or degrees from CCC, along with their Journeyworker certificate from the U.S. Department of Labor. “Congratulations to our graduates,” said Dr. Bruce Mack, vice president of academic affairs. “This is a major milestone, and we wish them continued success throughout their careers.”

The event also welcomed 29 new apprentices who are beginning their apprenticeship journey in a wide range of in-demand fields, including radiography, nursing, tool & die, maintenance, early childhood education, millwright, automation technician, electrician, and electrical and instrumentation.

“Becoming an apprentice is an important decision. It requires time and commitment,” said Mack. “That’s why we’ve chosen to hold this ceremony and celebrate the decision our students have made.”

During the ceremony, the College also welcomed two new employer partners: Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation and Smile’z Childcare Center. Their participation strengthens the program’s growing network of industry partners throughout Cleveland County.

“Without our employer partners, Apprenticeship Cleveland would not be possible,” said Mack. “Because of them, our students can gain valuable skills to meet workforce needs.”

Established in 2017, Apprenticeship Cleveland was created to help local businesses and industries develop the skilled workforce they need to thrive. Apprentices complete a minimum of 2,000 hours of on-the-job training along with at least 144 hours of related instruction through CCC. The program continues to grow each year, expanding opportunities for students while supporting economic development in Cleveland County and the region.
