Defensive Driving

Learn to Drive Safely

The district attorney wants you to become a safe driver! If you have been charged with a traffic violation, you may be eligible to attend one of the courses below and receive a reduced charge. However, it is your responsibility to determine how completion or non-completion of one of these courses will affect your driver’s license or insurance policy.

Alive at 25

The Alive at 25 class is for people 16-19 years old. The overall purpose of this course is to help young drivers choose safe driving practices, take responsibility for their behavior, and be aware of the typical driving hazards. If eligible, completion of the four-hour Alive at 25 class could prevent assessment of insurance points or premium surcharges on your insurance policy, and points on your North Carolina drivers license. See eligibility requirements below. You must register at least three business days prior to the start of class.
