Last week, we shared information about a cybersecurity incident at Instructure, the company that operates Canvas. We want to follow up with an important development and let you know that Cleveland Community College considers this matter closed.
Instructure’s CEO has informed its customers that the company reached an agreement with the unauthorized actor responsible for the incident. As part of that agreement, the data involved was returned to Instructure, proof was provided that all copies were deleted, and assurances were given that the data will not be shared or published. Instructure has also confirmed that no customers will be extorted as a result of this incident.
No further action is required on your part.
