Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

Spring 2022

Cleveland Community College applied for and received emergency grant funds of approximately $2,423,458 for the 2021-2022 school year. HEERF III (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) funds were disbursed to eligible students on February 28, 2022. A total of $2,423,181.63 has been disbursed for the 21-22 school year.

CCC also received $770,273 from the Supplemental Assistance to Institutions of Higher Education (SAIHE) Grant that allows tuition assistance, emergency assistance grants and student grants for the 2021-2022 school year. As of April 8, 2022, we have disbursed a total of $767,693.34 in these funds for student grants, tuition assistance and emergency assistance grants.

Funds from HEERF III and SAIHE are not considered financial aid and do not affect a student’s current or future financial aid eligibility. Per guidance from the Federal Government, funds are being disbursed based on financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If a student has not completed the FAFSA or if they are a high school student taking college courses (Career and College Promise), they were awarded the minimum grant award.

Fall 2021

Cleveland Community College applied for and received emergency grant funds of approximately $2,423,458 for the 2021-2022 school year. HEERF III (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) funds were disbursed to eligible students November 4, 2021, in the amount of $1,219,600.00 for the Fall 2021 semester. The remaining HEERF III funds will be disbursed during the Spring 2022 semester.

CCC also received $770,273 from the Supplemental Assistance to Institutions of Higher Education (SAIHE) Grant that allows tuition assistance, emergency assistance grants and student grants for the 2021-2022 school year. On November 4, 2021, $301,000.00 of this grant was disbursed to students combined with the HEERF III funds. As of January 10, we have also disbursed $186,101.00 of these funds in tuition assistance and emergency assistance grants for the fall semester.

Spring 2021

On December 27, 2020, the President signed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA). This new law gave the U.S. Department of Education approximately $22.7 billion to distribute to institutions of higher education in order to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).

Cleveland Community College has applied and received emergency grant funds to distribute to eligible students. These funds are intended to help you pay for expenses such as housing, food, technology needs, childcare, medical expenses and other costs resulting from the campus disruption.

Funds from the HEERF II are not considered financial aid and do not affect a student’s current or future financial aid eligibility. Per guidance from the Federal Government, funds are being disbursed based on financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If a student has not completed the FAFSA or if they are a high school student taking college courses (Career and College Promise), they were awarded the minimum grant award.

Spring 2020

Cleveland Community College has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement to offer CARES Act Grants to our students. The College’s total allocation received for CARES Act funding for students is $607,287, all of which was granted to students. Checks were mailed to students the week of July 6, 2020. Six hundred thirty-five students were eligible and each student received $954.76.

Federal CARES Act Distribution Guidelines

A curriculum student must have been enrolled in at least one seated curriculum course as of March 6, 2020 for the spring 2020 semester.
A curriculum student must be deemed Title IV eligible as defined by Sec. 484 of the Higher Education Authority by satisfying the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in a degree, diploma, or eligible certificate program
- Not be enrolled in elementary or secondary education
- Be making satisfactory academic progress
- Not owe an overpayment on Title IV grants or loans
- Not be in default on Title IV loans
- Be a U.S. citizen, or national, permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen
- Have Selective Service registration verified
Students are not required to have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid on file at the College.
Students are not required to complete a separate application for CARES Act Grant funding. The College will make this determination by verifying each enrolled student.
