Meet Jedidiah Woodall
Jedidiah Woodall earned an Associate in Science degree from Cleveland Community College in 2019, but a love of robots soon brought him back to CCC to earn an Associate in Applied Science in Automation Engineering. “I love robots and I’ve always enjoyed figuring out how things work,” he said. “I heard that CCC had a good program, and I already felt at home on campus after earning my AS there.”
Woodall’s experience in the program lived up to what he had heard. He said the teachers were always professional but personal. They made him feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas and always provided support and help. “They also made a huge effort to make sure we had access to high-quality training equipment and the best resources for pursuing our interests.”
At CCC, we know that attending college is stressful and is only one of the things going on in the lives of our students. That’s why we work hard to connect our students with additional resources to help them be successful. Resources offered on campus include tutoring, counseling, and opportunities to earn while you learn. While studying automation, Woodall took advantage of an earn while you learn program called Work-Based Learning. “I was ready to get out in the field and get some hands-on experience. I needed to take a step forward in my career and CCC helped me take that step.”
The Work-Based Learning program provides an opportunity for students to go to work and use what they are learning in the classroom on the job, while also earning academic credit. Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Sharon Nivens, helped Woodall improve his resumé and encouraged him until he secured a paid internship at a local company. The internship “not only gave me the opportunity to work on an automated production line, but also helped me to afford moving out on my own and marrying my high school sweetheart.”
