
North Carolina’s Accelerated College to Career Program
With NC Community Colleges’ Boost, you can get through school and be career-ready, fast.
Here’s how we will accelerate your education
- Reduce or eliminate your tuition costs
- Help with other costs of attending college
- Connect you with tutors and other support services
- Provide a dedicated academic advisor to keep you on track for graduation
Boost program participants who meet all program expectations are eligible to receive a stipend up to $800 and an additional textbook allowance up to $600 each academic year they participate in the program. Boost participants will also receive one-on-one advising designed to advance students through their education, pipeline into high-wage, high-demand careers, or transfer to a four-year school.
Do you qualify for NC Boost?
To qualify, you must:
- Be a US North Carolina resident eligible for in-state tuition, according to the NC Residency Determination Service (RDS)
- Possess a high school diploma or high school equivalency when you enter the program
- Receive the Federal Pell Grant and/or the Next NC Scholarship
- Have no more than 24 program applicable college credit hours earned
- Enrolled in one of these eligible degree programs?
- Attempt at least 24 credits per academic year

Starting Fall 2026, only students accepted and enrolled in one of these degree programs will be considered for NC Boost.
NC Boost Program Expectations
Students who are accepted into the program are automatically placed in the High Support Tier category for their first semester. After their first semester, students may level down to medium support or low support depending on grades, attendance, and advisor discretion.
- High Support Tier- Students required to meet with their advisor twice monthly.
- Medium Support Tier- Students are required to meet with their advisor once a month.
- Low Support Tier- Students are required to meet with their advisor twice a semester.
All participants, regardless of support tier, are required to attend two Career Development Activities.
Students who meet all program expectations are eligible to receive up to $800 per academic year in stipends! Additionally, eligible to receive up to $600 in textbook allowance.
