EMS Continuing Education Courses

Specialized training for EMS professionals, American Heart Association courses, and refresher courses.

2025 Class Dates

  • June 2 – August 1, 2025
  • September 8 – November 7, 2025

Required Textbook:

Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology: 8th Edition (ISBN 978-0-13-520380-4)

American Heart Association and CPR

  • Each class is scheduled for (4) hours and you can obtain the required 96 hours of Continuing Education for re-certification.
  • Monday Classes are 6-10 pm  / Saturday Classes are 9 am- 1 pm

 

  • March 28 & 29, 2025, 8 am – 5 pm
  • September 5 & 6, 2025, 8 am – 5 pm

Prehospital Trauma Life Support transforms the assessment and management of trauma patients in the field, improving the quality of trauma patient care and saving lives.

EMT Refresher – 80 Hours – Online

  • Course is designed meeting the North Carolina Office of EMS Recertification and Refresher Program Guidelines for EMT credential renewal.  This course may also be used to renew and EMR credential.  Course will include multiple blocks of content including:
    • Airway, Respiration and Ventilation
      Cardiovascular
      Trauma – To include Pediatrics
      Medical – To include Pediatrics
      Operations
      Local Competencies
  • Course can be used for students with an expired or amended credential. Technical Scope of Practice required if credential has expired or is amended (will be discussed on a case-by-case basis).
  • Recommended Textbook: Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured – Twelfth Edition (ISBN: 978-1284227222)
  • Upcoming:  5/15/25 – 8/15/25

Paramedic Refresher – 120 Hours – Online

  • Course is designed meeting the North Carolina Office of EMS Recertification and Refresher Program Guidelines for Paramedic credential renewal.  Course will include multiple blocks of content including:
    • Airway, Respiration and Ventilation
      Cardiovascular
      Trauma – To include Pediatrics
      Medical – To include Pediatrics
      Operations
      Local Competencies
  • Course will include both BLS and ALS content as BLS is a fundamental portion of quality ALS prehospital care
  • Course can be used for students with an expired or amended credential. Technical Scope of Practice required if credential has expired or is amended (will be discussed on a case-by-case basis).
  • Recommended Textbook: Emergency Care in the Streets – Ninth Edition (ISBN: 978-1284256741)

EMS Field Training Officer – Online

The EMS Field Training Officer (FTO) Course is designed for experienced EMS professionals looking to develop leadership, mentorship, and training skills. This course covers key topics such as adult learning principles, performance evaluation, feedback techniques, and structured onboarding processes for new EMS personnel. Through interactive modules and real-world case studies, participants will learn how to effectively train, assess, and mentor new EMTs and paramedics in the field. Ideal for EMS providers seeking to advance their careers and enhance the quality of patient care within their organizations.

The Difficult Airway Course: EMS 

The Difficult Airway Course: EMS (TDAC:EMS) is regarded as a premier educational program in the area of airway management.  This two-day program in out-of-hospital airway will equip providers to more effectively meet the challenges of comprehensive airway management in the field.  Furthermore, this course is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

Presented by Camden Education Unlimited, LLC this two-day, 16-hour, immersion style program, emphasizing basic and advanced airway anatomy and physiology, basic and advanced airway management psychomotor skills, and proven techniques to identifying airways that pose predictable management challenges.  Curriculum includes review and discussion of pharmacologic agents used to attenuate normal physiological response to airway management, including the latest evidence-based science toward rapid sequence intubation using sedatives and paralytics. Additionally, this course provides a hands-on surgical airway lab.

12 Lead ECG Interpretation

Presented by Camden Education Unlimited LLC, this course will teach students to quickly and reliably interpret ECG sinus, atrial, junctional, and ventricular rhythms, as well as identify ectopic impulses.
