The EMT program introduces basic emergency medical care. Topics include preparatory, airway, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma, infants and children, and operations. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve North Carolina State or National Registry EMT certification.

Accelerated 7-Week Program (Immediately Following Fire Academy)

  • November 3, 2025 – December 19, 2025, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. – (Currently FULL)
  • March 30, 2026 – May 14, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • August 17, 2026 – October 2, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • November 2, 2026 – December 18, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Night Class:

  • October 13, 2025 to April 27, 2026 Monday and Wednesday 6 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (one Saturday a month 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) –(Currently FULL)

Day Class:

  • January 7, 2026 to March 27, 2026 Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • May 2026 – August 2025 – Date TBA

EMT Class – Didactic/Classroom 

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Please bring a copy with you to the first class meeting. Must be age 17 by end date of class.

If a student is under the age of 18 or does not possess a high school diploma nor GED, they must pass a Reading Assessment Exam prior to entry into class.  

*Students who have an affiliation with a North Carolina Fire Department or EMS Agency are Registration Fee Exempt. ALL STUDENTS MUST PAY $1.30 ACCIDENT INSURANCE FEE. 

EMT Class Registration Fee: $180.00 – Non-Affiliated with NC Fire/ EMS Agency

Accident Insurance: $1.30 
CPR Card Fee: $10.00 
Clinical Registration: $180.00 (unless exempt w/NC Provider)

Uniforms: $225.00  
Malpractice Insurance: $16.00  
Drug Screen & Background Check: $50.00
Immunization Records: Student bears cost, if necessary, with their health provider.

EMT Class – Clinical Portion 

Students must attend 48 hours of Field Clinicals
