Lineworker Academy Finalist for Bellwether Award
In February, Dr. Jason Hurst, president of CCC, Tony Fogleman, vice president of Workforce Development, Alan Qualls, Electrical Lineworker Academy coordinator, and Trustee Craig DeBrew traveled to the Bellwether College Consortium’s 30th Annual Community College Futures Assembly in San Antonio, Texas.
There, the group had the opportunity to showcase CCC’s Electrical Lineworker Academy on the national stage. The program was chosen as one of only 10 finalists in the Bellwether Award’s Workforce Development category back in November.
At the assembly in Texas, CCC’s team conducted a presentation to a jury of anonymous judges, and fellow community college practitioners and CEOs. Unfortunately, the Academy did not win the overall award, but being selected as a finalist places CCC’s program among the best of the best.
The Bellwether College Consortium issued a call for nominations in the summer of 2023. Finalists representing 18 states and 29 community colleges were selected to compete from a large pool of submissions.
