Nursing Student Receives Award
Congratulations to Kaitlin Emmert, a Practical Nursing student at CCC. Kaitlin has been chosen to receive the Betty Garrison Award. Her instructors nominated her.
“I am so grateful to have been selected for this award,” said Kaitlin. “There are so many amazing nursing students here at CCC, and to have been chosen is a blessing.”
Betty Garrison was a much-loved and well-respected nurse in the Charlotte community throughout her nursing career. She was a passionate patient advocate and displayed professionalism in all that she did. She was a strong advocate for professionalism in nursing, serving in several organizations, including as president of the Metrolina Council of Nursing Organizations from 2003 – 2005. Unfortunately, cancer cut her work short in 2007.
To honor Betty’s life and her work to promote the nursing profession, the Metrolina Council of Nursing sponsors the Betty Garrison Award. Each year a senior nursing student is selected by their faculty based on qualities evident in Betty’s life and career. These qualities include patient care excellence, patient advocacy, and more.
