Petty Amphitheater has a new sign
The amphitheater on campus has been named the James B. Petty Amphitheater for years, but with only a small sign at the entrance. Recently, a beautiful new sign was installed on the stage.
The new sign was revealed on Saturday, April 13, when the Cleveland Community College Foundation hosted a dinner and fundraiser to honor Dr. James Petty, CCC’s first president. Dr. Petty led the organization from its humble beginnings as the Cleveland Unit of Gaston College through more than two decades of growth and evolution to become Cleveland Community College. Event attendees included current and past members of the CCC Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Directors, as well as retirees, employees and community members. Proceeds from the event support student scholarships at CCC.
The amphitheater is used for college events such as Yeti Nights and, most importantly, Spring graduation. This year’s graduating class from CCC is slated to be the largest in the school’s history. Attendees will be able to see in person this new addition to our outdoor stage.
