When our students talk…
Aliajah Cumberlander TRIO Alumni, NC A&T
Seriously want to thank all of TRIO for the amazing opportunities that you give to us students. Many people do not take notice in young kids to help them grow and prepare for life!! The places y'all have taken us and the adventures we have been on will always be some of my best memories! (quote from text sent to Ms. Thomas after returning from NYC)
Noah Jenkins Senior at Shelby High 2022-2023
Noah has toured many colleges with TRIO and even attended the Clemson Men of Color National Summit in 2020.
Diana Gabriel TRIO Alumni, Western Carolina University
What I found most helpful about TRIO was the positive atmosphere and the strong culture of support. It was a place that helped me feel connected to my peers outside of the classroom. It also helped me grow as an individual whether I knew it at the time or not. I believe TRIO played a big role in shaping the outgoing person I am today. … I was shy and extremely reserved and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life; furthermore I was questioning if college was even for me! TRIO helped guide me in the right direction. (quote from interview published in EdNC)
Laila Chambers TRIO Alumni, NC A&T
They took us on college tours and let us volunteer during several opportunities. They gave us knowledge on how to further our career and our goals. (quote from Spectrum News report on Ms. Chambers)
