This course was designed following the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services document “EMS Refresher Educational Program Guideline.”  The curriculum for this refresher course exceeds the National Education Standards curricula requirements for re-credentialing Paramedics. This refresher course is intended for the EMS community to use for re-credentialing their Paramedic.
This course may also be used as a “preparatory” class for currently credentialed Paramedics wishing to test for their National Registry.  The information contained in this course will help prepare Paramedics for the WRITTEN NREMT exam.

This course was designed following the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services document “EMS Refresher Educational Program Guideline.” The curriculum for this refresher course exceeds the National Continued Competency Program (NCCCP). This refresher course is intended for the EMS community to use for re-credentialing their North Carolina EMT.

This course may also be used as a “preparatory” class for currently credentialed EMTs wishing to test for their National Registry. The information contained in this course will help prepare EMTs for the WRITTEN NREMT exam.

Enroll in a Refresher if one of the following applies to your situation:

  • You have an expired credential and need a refresher for reentry into the NC EMS system.
  • You are attempting National Registry certification via the State Licensed Pathway. More information can be found here.
  • You are re-entering the National Registry after a lapsed credential.
  • You have been instructed by your training officer or other official that you are required to take a refresher which includes skills and technical scope of practice evaluation.
  • You want to come in and interact with our awesome staff and get some hands-on time, in addition to the continuing education.
  • You have a current, unexpired EMS credential and need continuing education hours to renew your credential.
  • You have a current National Registry certification and need continuing education hours to renew your credential.

All classes are 4-weeks and completely ONLINE for all level certifications. We will present 6 classes for each level. One class for each level certification each month from June 2024 thru November 2024.
  • November 1-29, 2024- Pre-registration REQUIRED by 10/21/2024

Each of these classes requires a MINIMUM of 7 students for us to present them.

Expanded Scope of Practice Course Descriptions:
EMT: 10 hours
This course is designed to update the EMT cognitive and psychomotor skills to the new (2023) Scope of Practice. The course will review the new scope of practice for EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics with an in depth focus on EMTs. Learners will review additional medications added to the EMT formulary, review fundamental concepts and procedures of medication administration including proper procedures for all delivery methods and the “Patient Rights” of medication administration. Learners will review the indications, contraindications, routes, and common packaging for all new medications added to the NCEMT Formulary.
AEMT: 20 hours
This course is designed to update the AEMT cognitive and psychomotor skills to the new (2023) Scope of Practice. The course will review the new scope of practice for EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics with an in depth focus on AEMTs. Learners will review the additional medications added to the AEMT formulary, review fundamental concepts and procedures of medication administration, including proper procedures for all delivery methods and the “Patient Rights” of medication administration. Learners will review the indications, contraindications, routes, and common packaging for all new medications added to the NCAEMT Formulary. The course will also review the psychomotor procedures of Manual Defibrillation and Needle Chest Decompression for AEMTs to be able to perform.
Paramedic: 25 hours
This course is designed to update the Paramedic cognitive and psychomotor skills to the new (2023) Scope of Practice. The course will review the new scope of practice for EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics with an in depth focus on Paramedics. Learners will review the additional medications added to the Paramedic formulary, review fundamental concepts and procedures of medication administration,including proper procedures for all delivery methods and the “Patient Rights” of medication administration. Learners will review the indications, contraindications, routes, and common packaging for all new medications added to the Paramedic Formulary.

Flight & Critical Care Prep and Review Course: 48 hours
The objectives for this course are aligned from the Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C®), Critical Care Certification (CCP-C®) and the CCEMT-PSM material creating a comprehensive list of objectives covering all necessary topics for recertification and preparation for certification exams. A comprehensive objective list is listed in the “outline” section below as well additional course objectives.
Course Description: This course is designed to educate the learners in advanced 12 lead ECG interpretation and to help advanced care practitioners understand the basic operations and functionality of ventilators.
This course is also designed to meet the recertification requirements for Paramedics who are currently certified as FP-C® and/or CCP-C®.  This course may be used to review concepts prior to taking the CCP-C® or FP-C® examinations.  Additionally, certified CCEMT-Ps may use the hours for this course toward their recertification requirements.  The content and concepts covered in this course are designed for the advanced EMS provider and include in-depth reviews of a variety of topics relative to the Critical Care practitioner.
