Barber Academy III

This academy provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the NC Board of Barber Licensing Exam, thereby equipping them for the professional work force. Each student will be empowered with confidence, professionalism, and enthusiasm to meet the demands of the ever-changing industry. Students will become socially competent members of their community and will have the knowledge and ethics consistent with responsible social and professional behavior. Barbering consists of hair cutting, shaving, trimming the beard, coloring the hair, applying hair tonics, permanent waving, mar celling the hair, facial and scalp massages, and treatment with oils, creams, lotions, or other preparations by hand or mechanical appliances. This course is a continuation of Barber Academy I and II. Required hours to graduate: 1528

Class will focus on brake repair and performance as well as truck and passenger car brake inspection. Students are encouraged to work on their personal vehicles. Upon completion, students may sit for the ASE industry recognized credentials exam.

Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate various methods and their application to representational imagery. Basic Farm Maintenance

This course covers fundamentals of maintenance and repair of farm facilities and equipment. Topics include safe use of hand tools and farm machinery, carpentry, concrete, painting, wiring, welding, plumbing, and calculating costs and materials needed. Upon completion, students should be able to answer theoretical questions on topics covered and assist with maintenance and repair of farm facilities and equipment.

Basic Handgun Academy

This course provides students with a fundamental understanding of the handgun (semi-automatic pistol or revolver) and its proper use, care, and storage. It will cover the following topics: 1. basic emergency care for firearm injuries 2. handgun terminology 3. handgun use 4. safety procedures while using and storing handguns 5. federal and state laws for those who are interested in becoming a conceal carry holder 6. 4-hour simulator - fire at CCC state of the art firearms simulator facility 7. 8-hour live fire period of instruction at a local range This course does not satisfy the NC requirements for Conceal Carry application. Students are required to provide a local criminal background check on the first day of class. NO HANDGUNS ALLOWED ON COLLEGE CAMPUS.

Basic Law Enforcement BLET

This course covers the basic knowledge and skills needed for entry-level employment as a law enforcement officer in North Carolina as required by the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the Sheriff's Education and Training Standards Commission. Topics include Commission-mandated content specific to law enforcement in North Carolina, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement/investigations, patrol techniques, crisis intervention, communication and de-escalation skills, interviews and interrogations, criminal and constitutional law, court procedures, civil process, ethical problem solving, and officer wellness. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate competence in the content required for the state comprehensive certification examination administered by the NC Department of Justice.

This course covers the basic installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components. Topics include safe use of tools, implementation of standard practices, and installation/maintenance of piping, fittings, valves, appliances and fixtures used in plumbed systems. Upon completion, students should be able to install/maintain basic plumbing systems, components, appliances, and fixtures through appropriate use of plumbing tools and standard practices.
